PIK2 HOLDS A BLESSING MASS ON THE COMPLETION OF THE ROOF INSTALLATION OF OUR LADY OF AKITA PRAYER GARDEN
After the Groundbreaking Ceremony which was held on 25 August 2023, on Monday, 30 October 2023, PIK2 held a Blessing Mass for the Completion of the Roof Installation of Our Lady of Akita Prayer Garden. This event marks the church in the Prayer Garden that located next to the Osaka Residences area, will soon be completed.
Attended by the PIK2 Board of Directors and other guests, this event began with remarks from Steven Kusumo, as CEO of Agung Sedayu Group. This was followed by a Blessing Mass for the Completion of the Roof Installation, led by Pastor Patrice J and Pastor Alexander Sisco.
“We are very proud that we were able to create PIK2’s Our Lady of Akita Prayer Garden to make it easier for Catholics to worship and for you to be able to enjoy unique and beautiful architectural works, which is an extraordinary experience,” said Steven Kusumo, in his speech.
PIK2’s totality in creating Our Lady of Akita Prayer Garden is proven by the use of materials of high standard and high quality. The design was made by a daiku (wood expert) from Japan, named Ichiro Urano san, who was also an eyewitness to the Divide incident, the statue of the Virgin Mary shedding tears in Akita, Japan, done beautifully by local Indonesian artists. Using the best teak wood materials made in Jepara and Klaten, under the direction of Purjono, a wood artist from Yogyakarta.
The Garden of the Lamb, a prayer garden with 14 stops of the Stations of the Cross and a Risen Christ Statue, as well as The Garden of Mary, which is a beautiful lake with a statue of the Virgin Mary in the middle will be built in this area. All the andesite stone statues and reliefs in this area were done by artists from Muntilan under the leadership of Ismanto. It is hoped that the collaboration between Japanese and Indonesian artists will produce unique works that will be remembered for a long time.
PIK2’s Our Lady of Akita Prayer Garden was inspired by the Seitai Hoshikai Church in Akita City which is famous for its divine event, the statue of the Virgin Mary shedding tears 101 times. Built as a tribute to the Virgin Mary and to provide worship facilities for Catholics, both from Indonesia and abroad. It is hoped that construction will be completed in December 2023, so that the public can soon pray and welcome this year’s Christmas festivities at PIK2’s Our Lady of Akita Prayer Garden.
